Archaeology at GiRNC

The Global Institute for Research and Nature Conservation (GIRNC) has been actively involved in archaeological research and the protection of cultural heritage in Nepal. Our efforts include the protection and maintenance of archaeological sites, ancient monuments, and national treasures, supported by the Ancient Monument Preservation Act, 2013. The devastating 7.9 magnitude earthquake on April 25, 2015, caused significant damage to Nepal’s heritage, including iconic UNESCO World Heritage sites like the Dharahara Tower. GIRNC collaborates with other organizations to reconstruct these monuments.

Our Initiatives:
• Preservation and protection of monuments and archaeological sites across Nepal.
• Conducting research on Nepalese history, culture, and archaeology with national and international university partnerships.
• Collecting and exhibiting archival materials.
• Providing technical assistance to local communities for conservation efforts.
• Raising awareness for the protection and promotion of cultural heritage.
